What do we race?
'A' class
The A Class is the most majestic of the Radio Sailing Classes. With an overall length of up to 2.0m a fleet of these on the water is a beautiful sight.
Although sailed regularly at only a few clubs nowadays, there is still a strong following for the PRACC series and WMSC members have several examples
IOM
The International One Metre (IOM) is the most popular RC Racing yacht in the World and is raced in over 30 Countries Worldwide. Popular in every Radio Sailing Club in the UK, there are some current 1000 boats registered nationwide, so finding boats to sail against is not a problem and a great deal of fun can be had, whatever your skill level is. Most UK clubs race at weekends, and sometimes on one other day during the week. District and Open events are held throughout the year.
Small Yacht Series
This series is for all yachts under 1.0m in length. Popular boats for this series are the Micro Magic, Victoria, Dragon Force 65, Affinity 65 and Fiesta models. A big attraction of these classes is the low cost and hence they are a great way to start off in model yacht racing. The minimum number of rules and the use of a handicapping system ensures close racing.
The club's 2024 calendar includes a series of race events for small yachts.
